The Archaeological House is a large and communicating place; you won't be cramped in this museum, allowing the right distance between people! The place is airy and allows the application of barrier gestures for visitors and your guide: hydro-alcoholic solution available, distance markings, welcome with protection, wearing the recommended mask. We look forward to seeing you in all serenity!
The Archaeological Museum of the Combrailles is an exhibition which conserves and shows the rich archaeological heritage of the territory, thanks to an original exhibition design.
Also, a permanent exhibition tells the story "Of ways and men", from the great Roman road Lyon-Saintes, created by Agrippa at the beginning of the 1st century, to the A89 motorway, via the royal roads wanted by Trudaine in the 18th century. The showcases bring together numerous objects covering 5000 years of history, from the flint daggers discovered in the dolmen of Saint-Etienne-des-Champs to the Romanesque capitals of the village of Herment. An important Gallo-Roman collection comes from the excavations of the ancient roadside town of Beauclair, a former Fines station on the Agrippa road, with inscriptions unique in France, dedicated to Toutatis, a Gallic god.
This route is completed by several playful kiosks related to the exhibition. A space is also dedicated to temporary exhibitions. A circuit of five major sites to be discovered around, on request.
A temporary exhibition in progress to be discovered.
