A Classified historical monument built in the 12th century with a classified portal. Particularities: a mixture of Auvergnat and Limosin style in sloping construction. An imposing staircase of 15 steps gives access to the nave. The largest collegiate church in the Auvergne.
Built in the 12th century by the Count of Auvergne Robert III, this church was part of an imposing fortress which has today disappeared. This vast building is marked by many influences of the nearby Limousin. The western portal still has its original hinges. An imposing staircase of 15 steps gives access to the nave and the aisles are lit by large “oculi” (round openings which bring in light from outside). Heritage sheet: Treasure collections of the Combrailles, on sale in the Combrailles tourist information offices.
