We demonstrate the heritage and history of miners following one and a half centuries of mining and extraction machinery. We look at he Auvergne in minature, via an animated reproduction with a small train and video. In summer rail bike and train. Exhibition.
Minérail welcomes you to the Messeix Mine Museum and presents a century and a half of mining by taking you on a tour of these places, steeped in history, in their original context: buildings and equipment as they were when the mine closed!
The educational interest is ensured by a small-scale, animated reproduction of the mining complex. The whole process is thus visualised in a playful way: from the extraction of anthracite to the shipment by rail, before discovering the original installations and many details about the miners' lives.
You will also have access, for the pleasure of children and adults, to "L'Auvergne miniature", a reproduction of the whole Region, with a multitude of small trains running. A delight!
The miners' train runs in summer, contact us!
This site is labelled a "Remarkable Industrial Ensemble" at regional level by Patrimoine Aurhalpin and classified one star in the Michelin Green Guide.
