Roche Sauterre
The highlight point of the Combrailles. At an altitude of 977m this rock was formed by a flow of bassalt lava from a volcanic eruption. Discover geometric blocks which were formed as a result of the rapidly cooled lava. A natural viewpoint, access by foot.
Part of the rock has been cut into by a quarry, but at the summit there is a picnic area. The summit has been fitted out for the safety of visitors, and an enamelled lava orientation table enables the natural elements (volcanoes, lake...) visible from this superb viewpoint to be identified.
